A Community Safety and Well-Being (CSWB) Plan is a strategic framework designed to help guide and inform local decisions and actions to enhance safety and well-being. There is no “one-size-fits-all” approach; each plan reflects the unique needs, priorities, and capacities of the community it serves, though common elements often overlap across jurisdictions.
Who created the CSWB Plan?
The CSWB was created in part with input from over 100 community members of Selkirk, with support from a lead steering committee consisting of local organizations, local law enforcement and municipal government representatives. The combined input of the community and the steering committee was instrumental in the identification of local priorities. Their efforts and dedication to a cleaner, safer and brighter Selkirk is greatly appreciated.
The final draft of the CSWB plan was prepared by the Canadian Centre for Safer Communities; a national, not-for-profit organization that operates as a community of practice. It was created to inspire local action and foster community safety & well-being through national leadership, collaboration, capacity building and knowledge exchange.
The final draft can be viewed and/or downloaded here:
